My first reaction when my sister tagged me in a photo of Sunnies Studio's upcoming sale was not overflowing excitement sprinkled abundantly over a lively "Hooray!".
It was an eyebrow-raised, pursed lips, and a suspicious glare all tied together by one simple--
"Oh, heck no."
The pastel promo poster bragged of the biggest sale the brand has ever (and will ever, apparently) have. "Buy one, get any pair free!" it cheered proudly.
I didn't want to believe it-- it was too good to be true and I was still in the process of nursing a broken heart after spending days obsessing over Penshoppe's #DIYDenimLab event, that I inevitably (and regrettably) ended up missing anyway.
I didn't want to get hurt again, but something told me to put my wallet out there one more time before I permanently ended my ever so torrid love affair with bargain hunting.
So after hours of disappointment (due to the lack of a Sunnies kiosk in Rockwell), frustration (because I had to pause my studies and brave the perpetually aggravating Manila traffic to get to the nearest mall that did have a Sunnies store), doubt (It was thundering on my way there and I was 97% I was never gonna get past the impending flood), and suspense (as I walked towards their quaint little booth in Robinsons, I braced myself for the big "JUST KIDDING!" sign or the pitiful "Sorry ma'am, the sale ended yesterday." slap-in-the-face via saleslady that was probably waiting for me at the end of the white tiled road), I finally found myself standing in front of a display of tres chic sunglasses, all an unbelievably reasonable price, and various "SALE! SALE! SALE! SALE!" signs plastered around the place.
My heart immediately felt a surge of revival.
For only P399, I was able to snag myself not one but two gorgeous finds-- The Marge, a pair of classic Twiggy-esque acrylic specs, and The Avery (also goes by The M), rounded frames with a bronze tint and metallic gold accents.
I couldn't believe it. After so many disappointing sales and oopsies-there's-actually-a-catch moments, finally a shop with a genuine deal came along. Sunnies Studios has definitely raised the bar for eye wear promos everywhere.
No surprise catches. No secret disclaimers. Just a 100% specstacular sale, and I couldn't be happier to have been able to participate in it.
